The project is situated in a narrow block in the city’s inner west. The recently renovated home features sophisticated, modern interiors with rear bi-folding glass doors opening out onto a decked outdoor space creating an extension of the indoor entertaining area.
We worked collaboratively with the owners to design and build a modern, lush garden that provided areas for both relaxation and entertainment and to create an atmosphere of exotic living in the inner city.
The white backdrop of the house exterior and the grey concrete of the angled feature wall allow the greens to shine and unify the house and landscape. The contrasting angles of the feature wall catch the sun as it moves around the garden and casts interesting shapes and shadows. We used ‘untamed’ plants with a range of different hues of green and different leaf textures to bounce against the light colours of this property to give it the tropical feel the clients desired. The hardwood timber will be left to weather to marry it to the industrial feel of the interior.
Using clean lines and lush, sculptural plantings, the space transformed from a basic lawned yard to an unexpected private oasis in Sydney’s inner west.
